WHAT/WHO: The Alcoholic Beverage Control Board (Board) will decide whether to extend, modify or not renew a moratorium on liquor licenses in Adams Morgan. Members of the media and public are welcome to attend the announcement.

BACKGROUND: The Board is considering two proposals in addition to public comment received on the issue through Friday, May 9. Petitions include:
The Adams Morgan Moratorium Zone currently extends approximately 1,400 feet in all directions from the intersection of Belmont Road and 18th Street, NW. The following alcoholic beverage license restrictions currently apply in the area:
- No new licenses for restaurants, taverns, nightclubs and multipurpose facilities.
- No more than 10 licenses issued for taverns, nightclubs and multipurpose facilities.
- A restaurant holding a license within the zone is prohibited from changing its license class unless there are fewer than 10 taverns, nightclubs and multipurpose facilities within the zone.
- A license holder outside of the zone is not permitted to transfer its license to a location within the zone unless it is an off-premise retailer or a hotel.
