Medical Cannabis - Caregivers

Overview

A caregiver is a person designated by a qualifying medical cannabis patient as the person authorized to possess, obtain from a retailer, dispense, and assist in the administration of medical cannabis.

Eligibility

To qualify, an individual must be:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Registered as the qualifying patient’s caregiver

Individuals who administer medical cannabis at a retailer or cultivation center are not eligible.

Of Note

A caregiver may only transport medical cannabis in a container or sealed package bearing the label received from the retailer.

Enrolled patients and caregivers may purchase up to eight (8) ounces of cannabis in any 30-day period and possess up to two (2) ounces at any time. Allowed formats include flowers, concentrates, edibles, transdermal products, seeds, and seedlings.

Valid patient and caregiver registrations are required to purchase medical cannabis.

To Apply or Renew

Individuals must submit a Medical Cannabis Caregiver Application (see below) with all required documentation and payment. Currently, an online application is not available for this application type.

Valid Period and Fees

The fee is waived through November 28, 2024.

Caregiver registrations are valid for six (6) years from the date of issuance. An annual fee applies. See Fee and Renewal Schedule.
