Overview
Permits the sale, service, and consumption of alcohol on a passenger-carrying train or marine vessel that serves food.
- Common Carrier Class CX (Railroad or Marine Vessel): Permits the sale, service, and consumption of spirits, beer, and wine
- Common Carrier Class DX (Railroad or Marine Vessel): Permits the sale, service, and consumption of beer and wine only
Eligibility
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
Board Orders and Settlement Agreement terms apply and may affect eligibility.
The license issued shall not cover any permanently berthed vessel.
To Apply
Applicants must submit an Alcohol License Application. Applications are subject to ABC Board approval.
Licensees seeking to modify their business operations, including adding an endorsement or a change of hours, trade name, or ownership, must submit the appropriate application(s). See Applications and Forms.
Valid Period and Fees
Licenses of the same class and type expire on the same day regardless of issuance date. Licenses may be valid for up to three (3) years based on the relevant license cycle.

Of Note
Any person operating a passenger-carrying marine vessel line in the District may be issued a single license covering all of its passenger-carrying marine vessels serving food and its dockside waiting areas for its passengers. The license shall identify the passenger-carrying marine vessels and dockside waiting areas covered by the license and shall be kept on display at the licensee's principal place of business in the District.
