License renewals can be done via email, mail, or in-person at ABCA's office, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.– 4:00 p.m., and any time before the renewal deadline. All renewed licenses are valid up to three (3) years.

Renewal applications must include:
Application
- Applications must be complete and signed by all persons listed on the license as president, vice president, managing member, member, shareholder, or sole member.
Certificate of Good Standing
- A printed Certificate of Good Standing—as issued by the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs/DCRA.
- Applies only if the holder of the license is a corporate entity.
Clean Hands Certificate—Individual
- A printed Clean Hands Certificate—as issued by the Office of Tax and Revenue/OTR—for all persons listed on the license as president, vice president, managing member, member, shareholder, or sole member.
- The certificate must be dated no later than one month of application submission.
Clean Hands Certificate—Business Entity
- A printed Clean Hands Certificate—as issued by the Office of Tax and Revenue/OTR—for the business entity.
- The certificate must be dated no later than one month of application submission.
Payment
- Accepted forms of payment include:
- Check (no starter checks) or money order made payable to “DC Treasurer”.
- Major credit card—Mastercard, Visa, Discover, and American Express
- Payments can be paid for one (1) or multiple years. Licenses are valid for up to three (3) years.
Government-Issued Photo Identification
Settlement Agreement Amendment and Termination Form (Optional)

Licensees with a Settlement Agreement that has been in place for at least four (4) years may apply to amend or terminate the agreement. All requests are subject to approval by the ABC Board.

A completed, printed, and notarized Settlement Agreement Amendment and Termination form must be filed with the renewal application and before the renewal deadline for consideration.
