Overview
Permits the same day delivery of alcohol to consumers within DC by delivery companies on behalf of alcohol-licensed restaurants, taverns, and other retailers, and manufacturers.
Alcohol delivery by third parties is permitted daily between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m.
Eligibility
Applicants must be a business that is registered to conduct business in the District and have an operational or contractual agreement with an ABRA licensee to provide same-day delivery services through the use of the internet, a mobile application, or a similar technology platform, and uses its own employees or independent contractors.
To Apply
Applicants must submit an Alcohol License Application and Third-Party Alcohol Delivery License Addendum which is included in the application packet.
Applications are subject to ABC Board approval.
Of Note
Licensees must file semiannual reports by July 30 and January 30 every year for the preceding six-month period detailing the number of alcoholic beverages delivered, name and address of the licensed establishment with which the order was placed, and the date the alcohol was delivered.
Licensees must maintain books and records reflecting the date, address, and recipient of the alcohol delivery for each delivery and the name and business address for the person making the delivery for the three (3) years. Books and records must be made available to the ABC Board and ABRA investigators within three (3) business days of a request.
Valid Period and Fees
Licenses are valid for up three (3) years with all licenses of the same type expiring on the same date.
