Overview
Manufacturers, Wholesalers, Off-Premises Retailers, and On-Premises Retailers are required to operate free from the influence of each other. Accordingly, DC law restricts gifting, loans, and other types of transactions between licensees.
The following types of transactions are considered gifts and loans:
- Loaning or giving money.
- Selling, renting, loaning, or giving equipment, furniture, fixtures, or property.
- Giving or selling a service.
Exceptions require ABC Board approval.
Eligibility
Manufacturers and Wholesalers. Board Orders, Mayor’s Orders, and Settlement Agreements may affect eligibility.
Each individual gift, sale, or transaction must be valued between $50 and $500.
To Apply
Applicants must submit a Gift and Loan Disclosure Application at least seven (7) days prior to the event or gift date.
All applications are subject to ABC Board approval.
Valid Period and Fees
There is no fee.
