Last week, the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration’s (ABCA) Enforcement Division, accompanied by Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers, padlocked four illegal cannabis operators bringing the number of total closures to date to 66.
Closure and Suspension Orders were issued due to the businesses operating illegally and posing an imminent risk to public health and safety. The closed illegal operators include:
- Minnesota Food Mart, 3728 Minnesota Avenue NE
- Seven ounces of marijuana and 542 grams of mushroom edibles were seized.
- Twenty-nine-year-old Riaz Hussain and 28-year-old Muhammed Sarker, both of Washington, DC, were arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute and Distribution of a Controlled Substance.
- The store’s Off-Premises Retailer Class A alcohol license was suspended. A hearing pertaining to the suspension and summary closure is scheduled for August 13 at 10:30 a.m.
- J&D Market, 2201 Minnesota Avenue SE
- Less than an ounce of marijuana was seized.
- Less than an ounce of marijuana was seized.
- Presidential Flightz, 2407 18th Street NW
- Fourteen ounces of marijuana, 210 grams of mushroom edibles, 272 grams of THC wax, and less than five grams of THC edibles were seized.
- Thirty-four-year-old Fadhl Deen, of Washington, DC, was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute and Distribution of a Controlled Substance.
- Penn Smoke Shop, 2324-B Pennsylvania Avenue SE
- 1.8 grams of crack cocaine, 44 milliliters of methadone liquid, less than an ounce of marijuana, 6.8 grams of synthetic cannabinoids, and 4.9 grams of THC edibles, along with a stolen handgun, were seized.
- Thirty-two-year-old Tyrell Graves of Washington, DC, was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute, Carrying a Pistol Without a License, Receiving Stolen Property, Unregistered Firearm and Unregistered Ammunition.
