New All-Digital Hub for Medical Cannabis Registrations

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration (ABCA) has launched the first phase of its new online portal, MyABCA.DC.gov, to streamline medical cannabis patient and caregiver registrations. This digital platform replaces legacy systems and paper processes, with full integration of alcohol and medical cannabis licensing slated for 2027. Visit MyABCA.DC.gov to access the new portal.

Key Registration & Portal Enhancements (Phase 1)

  • All-Digital Applications: Medical cannabis patient and caregiver registrations can now be completed 100% online.
  • Seamless Renewals: Track registration status and receive automated email reminders to avoid coverage gaps. (Note: Online renewal applies to registrations created in the new system starting today).
  • Flexible Non-Resident Scheduling: Non-D.C. residents can pre-select their active validity period to coincide directly with their planned travel dates.
  • Integrated Payment System: Seamless, secure processing is built directly into the digital registration flow.
  • Retailer On-Premises Dashboard: Licensed retailers who set up a user account get access to a dedicated registration dashboard to expedite on-premises patient applications and track submissions.
  • Healthcare Practitioner Tracking: Registered healthcare providers can issue recommendations and track their full recommendation history for patients through a custom dashboard.
  • Direct Collaboration: Applicants and the ABCA licensing team can message each other directly within the portal to resolve registration questions and instantly upload missing documents.
  • Save & Return Access: Applicants with user accounts can save drafts and return to them later; incomplete submissions are securely held for 30 days.

While the digital customer portal is new, ABCA's privacy protections remain unchanged. Personal details are never shared with District agencies, federal groups, or third-party entities. Furthermore, licensed retailers track transactions using a unique, random patient number instead of a name to ensure patient privacy at the point of sale.

Launch Day Training Session

ABCA will host a virtual training session to guide prospective and current patients through the new portal registration process.
