ABCA and MPD Shut Down Illegal Cannabis Retailer in Northwest DC

Store Padlocked, One Arrest

On Wednesday, October 28, 2026, the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration (ABCA), in coordination with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), executed a Closure Order at an unlicensed commercial establishment for illegal cannabis sales.

The enforcement action took place at DC Tobacco and Gifts Palace, located at 3331 Connecticut Avenue, NW. Authorities ordered the immediate closure of the storefront after determining its unauthorized operations posed an imminent danger to public health and safety.

The operation was part of the city's ongoing enforcement efforts utilizing expanded civil enforcement powers granted to ABCA in 2024. Since these new legal authorities took effect, joint agency initiatives have resulted in the padlocking of 114 illegal cannabis businesses across DC.
