Training: Opioid Epidemic

Increasing Awareness of Opioid Overdose Risk & Treatment Resources was co-hosted by the District’s Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) and provided participants with an overview of the national opioid epidemic, how the District Government is responding to the crisis locally, and meaningful ways that nightlife business owners, staff, and patrons can help reduce risk and save lives. 

Specific topics covered:

  • Understanding the local opioid crisis
  • Medication that can help reverse opioid overdoses
  • Increasing awareness of the risk of opioid overdoses, being prepared to save a life
  • Protections afforded by Good Samaritan laws
  • Misconceptions about opioid use disorders and enforcement
  • Available training and resources
  • Local mental health and substance use treatment options
