* Virginia patients may use written healthcare practitioner recommendations to purchase medical cannabis and medical cannabis products from DC licensed Retailers. Recommendations must be unexpired and on the Commonwealth of Virginia-issued form for medical cannabis healthcare practitioner recommendations and accompanied by a valid Commonwealth of Virginia-issued photo ID with a matching name. U.S. Passports, student photo IDs, and other similar documents do not qualify. This modification was made to address the Commonwealth of Virginia’s decision to allow Virginia patients to purchase medical cannabis from a dispensary with an unexpired valid written certification form issued by a registered healthcare practitioner.
To Apply
For a temporary patient registration, non-DC residents must submit a brief online registration form self-certifying that they will only use purchased medical cannabis for valid medical purposes.
Upon submission, registrants will be emailed a payment link. Payment must be successfully processed before a digital patient registration will be issued by email. Payment links are unique and may only be used once.
Registration, including payment processing and registration issuance, can be completed within 10 minutes.
For reciprocity, non-DC residents must register through the medical cannabis program where they claim residency.
Valid Period and Fees
Registrants may select from five (5) valid periods. They are:
- Three (3)-days
- 30-days
